Reflecting on what makes me happy.
This week I created two separate lists; a list of activities that take up my day, and a list of things that makes me happy.
I then put the two lists together side by side and noted which items aligned with my values (adventure, curiosity, creativity, and intelligence) and made me feel happy/content, versus what items I need to do (work, paying bills, meetings, etc.).
Upon reflection I saw that I spend a lot of time doing things I’m supposed to do, rather than things that fulfill my soul.
I want to be able to find a balance in what I need to do, and what makes me happy.
A few items on my list of things that make me happy include journaling, bouldering, hiking, photography, reading, painting, and spending time outside.
This is very different from what I’m currently doing each day (appointments, meetings, trainings and errands). This list will change next month when I start my new job which will incorporate more of what I enjoy.
Every week I’m going to try and incorporate at least one item from my list of things that make me happy, to my daily schedule.
It’s my hope that in doing so, I will not only feel more authentically true to myself, but I’ll also feel more motivated and excited about my life and what’s to come.
This past week I focused on adding journaling into my daily practice and I’ve felt more at ease and calm.
I am enjoying reflecting on my day and seeing my personal growth as time goes on.
Next week I’d love to add in reading daily. If you have any good book recommendations please let me know!
I know that when I fill my day with things that bring me joy, I tend to feel more connected to myself and towards other people as a whole.
What are some things that you enjoy doing that you haven’t had the time to do recently?
What tiny changes will you make this week towards your happiness?
Thanks for reading.
XOXO
